Heather M. Cain earned a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy from Mount. St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles, California in 2010. While working on her degree, Heather worked in the public school and charter school sector with children special needs and with women and children affected by domestic violence.
After graduating, Heather moved to the DC area where she continued her journey in the field of mental health and earned a certification in Christian Counseling. She has worked with adults who have co-occurring mental health disorders and substance abuse difficulties, incarcerated men and women with mental health disorders, children in the foster care system and in charter schools with children with Individualized Education Plans.
In addition to working in the private sector, Heather has taught Introduction to Psychology courses at the University of the District of Columbia and mental health workshops at faith based institutions. In 2016 Heather was able to marry her passion of mental health education and spirituality by creating an education and consulting business called Shrink Me Not! Heather is a Licensed Professional Counselor in both Washington, DC and Maryland.
